About Us
2024 was the 25th season for the Micro Tour golf series. Our competition consists of twelve or more net score golf tournaments at courses ranging from eastern Carolina/OBX to Northern VA. We have 60+ members and encourage sponsorship of new members every season as there is not open enrollment. The Micro Tour offers a day of competitive golf for players with handicaps ranging from single digits to the thirties and plenty of fellowship. Members volunteer to coordinate the tournaments so we have no employees. All monies collected cover greens fees and profits become credits earned in purses to help members pay for future events and championship fees.
Our handicaps are determined by Micro Tour tournament scores over a two year period. Rookies and returning veterans earn a handicap index over their first five tournaments before competing for prizes in their sixth event. Play is governed by USGA rules with local rules in place to help pace of play and eliminate player disqualification from tournaments.
We play tees near 6,300 yards with senior tee options for members over 60 years old and a back tee option for players with a handicap under 20. We have a 50/50 drawing and closest to the pin contests at each tournament. Members combine their 5 best net scores to earn ranking on the final leader board and the top 20 earn a qualifying bonus and exemptions to the season ending championship. The season ending championship venue changes every year and is selected based on votes from every active member.
The Micro Tour goal is to have a great day of golf with friends while balancing pace of play with an enjoyable round of competitive golf for every player.
